Fun with Pictures

organizing pictures can be funThe “inch by inch” quote is a favorite of mine. Life can be so overwhelming if we think too far ahead. Staying in the present and trying to focus on only what’s in front of us right now can prevent major stress.

When it comes to photos, many people feel frustrated and overwhelmed by the volume. Who has enough time to perfectly organize their photos??
There is a wonderful organization called APPO, which stands for Association of Personal Photo Organizers. This month, they are running a program called “Save Your Photos” and every day they send another Photo Organizing Tip. (It’s not too late to sign up!).
Here are a few of the tips from SAVE YOUR PHOTOS:
Designate a Workspace

Designate a temporary workspace in your home that is visible and allows you to spread out. When your project is visible, you’re more likely to remain focused on completion.

Take an inventory

Photo organizers don’t count photos – they measure or weigh them! A one inch stack of photos is approximately 100 photos, six to seven pounds of photos are about 1000 – 1200 photos.

Start with digital pictures

Tackle your digital photo collection first. Your images may be at greater risk than your printed photo collection if you don’t have sufficient backups in place.

Eliminate Duplicates
Too many duplicate images cluttering your photo collection? There’s an app for that. Use a duplicate finder to locate and eliminate duplicate and ‘near duplicate’ images.
For some people, the accumulation of photos causes significant stress. If conquering your photos will increase your peace of mind, then go for it!

Virtual Organizing with Cindy

When I began my professional organizing career in 2004, one of my first clients lived in South Carolina. She emailed me pictures of her house and by phone, we were able to accomplish great things. I’ve had other clients located all over the country with similar results.
There are significant benefits to virtual organizing and I’ve listed them below. If you feel you might be a good match as a virtual organizing client, I’d be delighted to discuss the possibilities with you. Call me at 410-484-8328 or email cindy@aim4order.com.

Benefits of Virtual Organizing

  1. If you live in an area where there are no organizers, you can have instant access to a professional.
  2. Some people have a hard time working for longer periods of time. With virtual organizing, you can schedule a one hour session – less time, less money, still great results.
  3. Some people are very embarrassed by the condition of their home. Virtual organizing allows you to control what is seen by an outsider.
  4. With virtual organizing, you will be describing what you see and in return, get very specific instruction on next steps. The learning takes place by doing it on your own.
  5. If you have a limited budget and many hours of organizing are needed, you can find someone locally to assist you with the physical labor and I can teach both of you how to organize the space.
  6. If you are a “Do it Yourself” kind of person, a one hour session will have you off and running. Follow up sessions can be scheduled as needed, along with an accountability system to keep you on track.
  7. If you have an unusual schedule, virtual organizing sessions can be held at your convenience and not necessarily during ‘normal business hours.’
Sessions can be held by phone, Skype or FaceTime. Let’s talk! Call 410-484-8328 to arrange a time.
